Publication Ethics

Tudang Sipulung: Journal of Community Service is a scientific journal that publishes the results of community service activities, community empowerment, the implementation of appropriate technology, assisted village development, community capacity building, and various social innovations that contribute to sustainable development. All published articles must be original works that have never been published and are not under consideration by any other journal.

This publication ethics statement serves as a guideline for all parties involved in the journal publication process, including journal managers, editors, reviewers, and authors. This guideline refers to the Regulation of the Head of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publication and internationally recognized principles of academic integrity.

Scientific publication ethics in this journal upholds three main principles:

Neutrality, namely publication management that is free from conflicts of interest.

Fairness, namely the proportional allocation of authorship rights to parties who have made scientific contributions.

Honesty, namely ensuring that every scientific work is free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P).

To maintain academic integrity, every submitted manuscript will undergo a similarity check using plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin before entering the review process.

Responsibilities of Journal Management

Journal management is responsible for:

  • Determining the journal title, scientific scope, publication frequency, and journal development policies.
  • Appointing editors and reviewers according to their areas of expertise.
  • Developing and implementing publication policies in a transparent and accountable manner.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of information related to authors, editors, and reviewers.
  • Ensuring compliance with intellectual property rights and copyright principles.
  • Providing publication ethics guidelines for all parties involved.
  • Ensuring the sustainability of regular journal publication.
  • Developing collaborative networks with educational institutions, research organizations, government agencies, industries, and community organizations.
  • Providing a professional journal management system oriented toward improving publication quality.

Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for:

  • Conducting the editorial process objectively, transparently, and independently.
  • Determining manuscript eligibility based on scientific quality, relevance, novelty, and contribution to community service development.
  • Maintaining the academic quality and integrity of all published articles.
  • Ensuring that the peer-review process is fair and free from conflicts of interest.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of manuscripts under review.
  • Making editorial decisions based on reviewer recommendations and accountable academic considerations.
  • Encouraging authors to improve manuscript quality through revisions.
  • Issuing corrections, clarifications, or retractions when publication ethics violations are identified.
  • Conducting periodic evaluations of journal quality and editorial effectiveness.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers play an important role in maintaining publication quality by:

  • Reviewing manuscripts objectively, critically, constructively, and in a timely manner.
  • Providing recommendations to editors regarding manuscript suitability for publication.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of all information contained in reviewed manuscripts.
  • Avoiding conflicts of interest during the review process.
  • Providing feedback aimed at improving the substance, methodology, analysis, and presentation of articles.
  • Identifying possible plagiarism, duplicate publication, or other ethical violations.
  • Reviewing revised manuscripts according to applicable scientific standards.

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for:

  • Presenting community service activities accurately, objectively, and responsibly.
  • Ensuring that manuscripts are original and free from plagiarism.
  • Ensuring that all listed authors have made significant contributions to the article.
  • Acknowledging funding sources, institutional support, or other relevant assistance.
  • Honestly explaining the limitations of the community service activities conducted.
  • Responding to editor and reviewer comments professionally and promptly.
  • Not submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.
  • Informing the editor if significant errors are discovered after publication.
  • Declaring that the submitted article has never been published and is not under consideration by another journal.

COPYRIGHT NOTICE

Tudang Sipulung: Journal of Community Service adopts an open-access system that allows users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, and use articles freely for academic purposes without financial or technical barriers.

All articles published in this journal are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Under this license, authors and users are permitted to:

  • Share: copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
  • Adapt: remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial purposes.

Authors retain copyright ownership of their published works and grant the journal the non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, and archive the articles.

Authors may republish their articles in institutional repositories, personal websites, or other media, provided that the original publication in Tudang Sipulung: Journal of Community Service is acknowledged.

Third-party materials used in articles must obtain permission from the copyright holder if they are not covered by the applicable Creative Commons license.

ARCHIVING POLICY

To ensure the availability and sustainability of access to all published articles, Tudang Sipulung: Journal of Community Service implements digital archiving through distributed preservation networks such as LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and various national and international indexing systems.

The journal also promotes article archiving and dissemination through scientific databases, institutional repositories, and relevant indexing services to ensure long-term preservation and accessibility for the academic community.

PRIVACY STATEMENT

Names, affiliations, email addresses, and other personal information entered into the journal system will be used exclusively for editorial management and scientific publication purposes within Tudang Sipulung: Journal of Community Service.

Such information will not be used for any other purpose or disclosed to third parties without the consent of the data owner, except where required by applicable laws and regulations.
