Author Guidelines

Tudang Sipulung: Journal of Community Service is a scientific journal that publishes the results of innovative, applicable, participatory, and community empowerment-oriented community service activities. This journal serves as a medium for disseminating best practices, research implementation, technology transfer, community capacity building, and empowerment models that contribute to improving the quality of life of communities and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This journal accepts articles that have not been previously published and are not under review by other journals. Authors are fully responsible for the originality of their work, the validity of the data, and the scientific substance presented in the manuscript.

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

A. General Provisions

• Manuscripts must be written in a single-column format using the Bookman Old Style font.
• Manuscripts may be written in either Indonesian or English following proper academic writing standards.
• The manuscript length is a maximum of 15 pages, including tables, figures, and references.
• Each manuscript will undergo a peer-review process conducted by reviewers and editors according to their areas of expertise.
• The decision on article acceptance is based on the evaluation of substance, scientific quality, program novelty, and the contribution of the community service activities.

B. Manuscript Structure

  1. Title

The title must be concise, clear, specific, informative, and reflect the substance of the community service activity conducted.

  1. Author Names and Affiliations

Author names should be written without academic titles.

Example:

  1. Abstract

The abstract must be written in both Indonesian and English with a maximum length of 250 words.

The abstract should contain:

• Background of the activity
• Partner problems
• Objectives of the activity
• Implementation methods
• Results and impacts of the activity
• Conclusion

The abstract should be written in a single paragraph without citations.

  1. Keywords

• Consist of 3–5 words or phrases that reflect the substance of the community service activity.
• Arranged in alphabetical order.

  1. Introduction

This section explains:

• Situation and partner condition analysis
• Priority problems faced by the community
• Urgency of program implementation
• Relevant literature review
• Novelty and advantages of the program
• Objectives of the community service activity

The introduction must be supported by relevant and up-to-date primary references.

  1. Implementation Method

The method section explains in detail:

• Location and time of the activity
• Target group or partners
• Program implementation stages
• Empowerment methods used
• Applied technologies or innovations
• Evaluation techniques and success indicators

The method must be presented systematically so that it can be replicated in other locations or target groups.

  1. Results and Discussion

The results and discussion should be written in an integrated manner.

The content includes:

• Activity implementation
• Achieved results
• Changes in partner conditions before and after the program
• Community participation level
• Analysis of achievements and constraints
• Social, economic, educational, health, or environmental impacts
• Relationship between the results and theories or similar activities previously conducted

Data may be presented in the form of tables, graphs, figures, diagrams, or narrative descriptions.

  1. Conclusion

The conclusion contains:

• Summary of the main results of the activity
• Level of achievement of program objectives
• Impact on the community
• Recommendations for program development or sustainability

  1. Acknowledgements (Optional)

Addressed to:

• Funding institutions
• Activity partners
• Local government
• Supporting institutions
• Other parties contributing to the implementation of the activity

  1. References

The reference list should only include sources cited in the manuscript.

Requirements:

• Use APA Style (7th Edition).
• The use of reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote is recommended.
• At least 80% of references must come from scientific journals, proceedings, or reputable academic sources.
• At least 70% of references must have been published within the last 10 years.
• Priority should be given to primary sources and scientific articles relevant to community service activities.

• Table titles should be placed above the table.
• Tables must be editable and not in image format.

PUBLICATION ETHICS

Tudang Sipulung: Journal of Community Service applies scientific publication ethics principles based on international standards and best practices in journal management.

Authors are required to uphold:

• Authenticity and originality of scientific work.
• Honesty in presenting data and activity results.
• Transparency in program implementation methods and evaluation.
• Respect for the rights, privacy, and dignity of activity partners.
• Compliance with research and community service ethics.
• Disclosure of conflicts of interest when applicable.
• Prevention of plagiarism with a maximum similarity index of 25%.

Manuscripts proven to contain plagiarism, data fabrication, information falsification, duplicate publication, or other violations of academic ethics will be rejected or retracted in accordance with journal policy.
