Publication Ethics

JUMIE : Jurnal Mega Inovasi Ekonomi is a periodical scientific journal that publishes research findings, conceptual papers, literature reviews, and scholarly articles in the fields of economics, management, business, entrepreneurship, accounting, finance, economic development, digital economy, creative economy, public policy, and related humanities disciplines. All published manuscripts must be original scientific works, have not been previously published, and are not under consideration for publication in other journals.

This publication ethics statement serves as a guideline for all parties involved in the scientific publishing process, including journal managers, editors, peer reviewers, and authors. These guidelines refer to the Regulation of the Head of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) No. 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publication, as well as international publication ethics principles that uphold academic integrity.

The publication ethics of JMIE are based on three main principles:

  • Neutrality, namely freedom from conflicts of interest throughout the journal management and publication process.
  • Fairness, namely providing appropriate authorship recognition to parties who have made scientific contributions.
  • Honesty, namely ensuring that every article is free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, data manipulation, and plagiarism.

To maintain academic integrity, every submitted manuscript will undergo a similarity check using plagiarism detection software, such as Turnitin, before entering the review process.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOURNAL MANAGEMENT

The management of JUMIE is responsible for:

  • Determining the journal’s identity, scope, publication frequency, and development strategy.
  • Appointing and managing members of the editorial board based on relevant academic expertise.
  • Establishing and managing professional and transparent working relationships among publishers, editors, reviewers, and authors.
  • Ensuring the confidentiality of all documents, data, and editorial processes.
  • Upholding Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), particularly copyright and publication licensing.
  • Developing, evaluating, and updating journal policies regularly.
  • Providing publication ethics guidelines for editors, reviewers, and authors.
  • Ensuring the continuity of regular and timely journal publication.
  • Developing collaborative networks with universities, research institutions, professional associations, and related organizations.
  • Ensuring the availability of adequate administrative, technical, and financial support for journal sustainability.
  • Promoting journal quality improvement through national accreditation and international indexing processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF EDITORS

Editors are responsible for:

  • Managing the editorial process professionally, objectively, and transparently.
  • Ensuring the academic quality of published articles through rigorous selection and review processes.
  • Making decisions regarding article acceptance or rejection based on scientific quality, originality, contribution to knowledge development, and reviewer evaluations.
  • Upholding academic freedom and scientific independence in the editorial process.
  • Ensuring that every manuscript is evaluated without discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, race, gender, nationality, or institutional affiliation.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of manuscript-related information throughout the editorial process.
  • Avoiding conflicts of interest in decision-making processes.
  • Issuing corrections, clarifications, retractions, or apologies when significant errors are identified after publication.
  • Conducting periodic evaluations of journal quality and performance.
  • Encouraging authors to improve both the substance and technical aspects of their articles to meet scholarly publication standards.
  • Enhancing journal quality through editorial innovation and improvements in publishing standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF PEER REVIEWERS

Peer reviewers play an important role in ensuring the scientific quality of published articles. Reviewers are responsible for:

  • Conducting reviews objectively, constructively, and based on scientific principles.
  • Providing recommendations to editors regarding the suitability of manuscripts for publication.
  • Offering criticism, suggestions, and feedback aimed at improving manuscript quality.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of all information contained in reviewed manuscripts.
  • Refraining from using information obtained during the review process for personal benefit.
  • Declining to review manuscripts when a conflict of interest exists with the author, institution, or research under review.
  • Completing the review process professionally and within the agreed timeframe.
  • Assessing the quality of methodology, validity of data, accuracy of analysis, relevance of references, and scientific contribution of the article.
  • Assisting editors in identifying potential plagiarism, duplicate publication, and research ethics violations.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF AUTHORS

Authors are responsible for:

  • Presenting research findings honestly, accurately, objectively, and in a scientifically accountable manner.
  • Ensuring that submitted articles are original works and free from plagiarism.
  • Not submitting the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal.
  • Ensuring that all data used have been obtained through legitimate and ethical research procedures.
  • Properly acknowledging all sources used in accordance with scientific citation standards.
  • Ensuring that all listed authors have made significant scholarly contributions.
  • Disclosing research funding sources and any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Clearly stating research limitations in a transparent manner.
  • Responding professionally and promptly to comments and recommendations from editors and reviewers.
  • Informing editors of any significant errors discovered in published articles.
  • Submitting a statement of originality and conflict-of-interest disclosure during the manuscript submission process.

COPYRIGHT NOTICE

JMIE adopts an Open Access policy, allowing all articles to be accessed freely, openly, and without charge by readers worldwide.

All published articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Under this license, users are permitted to:

  • Share: copy, distribute, and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
  • Adapt: remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial purposes.

Provided that appropriate attribution is given to the author(s) and the journal as the original source of publication.

Copyright of the articles remains with the authors, while the journal receives a non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, and archive the articles under the terms of the CC BY 4.0 license.

Authors are permitted to republish their articles in institutional repositories, personal websites, or other scholarly platforms, provided that the original publication in JUMIE : Jurnal Mega Inovasi Ekonomi is properly acknowledged.

ARCHIVING POLICY

JUMIE implements a digital archiving system to ensure the security, sustainability, and accessibility of all published articles.

The journal utilizes the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system and/or other digital archiving systems to create permanent archives for preservation and data recovery purposes.

In addition, all journal content will be distributed and archived in various databases and indexing services, including:

  • GARUDA (Garba Rujukan Digital)
  • Indonesia OneSearch
  • National Repositories
  • Relevant national and international indexing databases

This policy aims to ensure the long-term availability and accessibility of all published articles.

PRIVACY STATEMENT

JUMIE is committed to protecting the privacy of all users of the journal system.

Names, email addresses, affiliations, and other personal information entered into the journal system will be used exclusively for journal management, publication, and scholarly communication purposes related to the journal.

Such information will not be shared, sold, or disclosed to any third party for purposes beyond the journal’s operational needs, except where required by applicable laws and regulations.

All user data are managed in accordance with the principles of confidentiality, information security, and personal data protection.
